Virginia Dawn Jones

Virginia Dawn Jones of Haslett, MI, Age 85, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Virginia was born on March 23, 1932 in Sunfield, Michigan to Charles and Erma (Litchfield) Weeks. She was a resident of East Lansing and Haslett most of her life. She attended Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. She was employed at Michigan State University for 17 years in the Student Loan and Payroll Departments, and was a member of the MSU Business Women’s Association, Haslett Community Church, and the Haslett Women’s Club. After retiring from MSU in 1995, Virginia enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, David (Helen) Jones of Haslett; daughter, Carol Oberg, of Vernoux-en-Gâtine, France. Three grandchildren, Zachary (Juliana) Oberg, of Paris, France; Ian Oberg, and Samantha Oberg, of Lansing; her dear brother, Ara Gene (Carol) Weeks of Greenville; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Charles Jones; in-laws, Charles and Crystal Jones; brother, Charles Daryl Weeks and his wife Geraldine.

Special thanks to Mom’s good friend, Renee Schafer; also to Lucia Franchini and MediLodge of Okemos for their wonderful care of Mom. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26 with visitation one hour prior, at Gorsline-Runciman 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823. A brief graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Lowell, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers , donations may be made in Virginia's memory to the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons 201 North Washington Square Lansing, MI 48933, or the Haslett Food Bank c/o Haslett Community Church Box 217 Haslett, MI 48840. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
