Wayne Roush

Preceded in death by his (adoptive) parents Howard and Lulu Roush, and his biological family members, parents Elmer and Regina Buxton, brothers Verner (Ellen) and Vincent (Dorothy), sisters Elva Martin and Margaret Zander and niece Kay Thompson.

Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carol Roush of East Lansing, daughters Linda Nuttall (Jim) and Diane Beem (Chris Adams) and son Eric (Joanne); former son-in-law Gary Beem; grandchildren Stephanie Grimes (Ben) and Daniel Beem (Kelli Buck); great-grandchildren Troy and Hunter Beem and AJ Heideman Jr. Numerous nieces and nephews in all families cherish Uncle Wayne's memory.

After graduating from Ionia High School in 1946, Dad served in the Army-Air Force from 1946- 1949, stationed in Nome, Alaska from 1947-1949 working as a draftsman and driving large construction equipment. On September 10, 1950 he married the love of his life Carol Jean Covert, also from Ionia, and they began their married adventure. The GI bill took them to Michigan Tech in Houghton MI. After 2 years of initiation in UP life, the State of Michigan had positions open in Lansing. East Lansing became home and Dad began his career with the State in September 1953. After 40 years as a Plat Examiner in the Subdivision Control Department, he retired in January 1994. Dad and Mom became RV snowbirds, visiting Florida and Arizona friends and relatives each winter, after an amazing retirement trip to Hawaii.

Dad's interests and hobbies were numerous. He played trombone and piano, taught Sunday school, fished and hunted, cut and split wood with gusto, biked, took up family camping, danced every year of their marriage with mom, played bridge at every chance, was an avid Nascar and MSU fan, and collected Petoskey stones, National Geographics, Shot Glasses and Cook Books. He had fun and shared his love of life with all those around him, young and old.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2:00 p.m. at Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn Rd, East Lansing with Pastor Bonnie Tarwater officiating.
