On June 29, 2025, William Juhnke went home to be with his Lord after struggling with dementia. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna; sons Robert (Jennifer) and Jeffrey (Kami); grandchildren Tyler, Briella and Adriana; sister Janet Leonardis; brothers-in-law Gordon Marquardt (Donna), Paul Marquardt (Terri), Patrick Marquardt (Renee), Ray Jarvis; sisters-in-law Nancy Suriano (Rob) and Carol Majetic; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Linda Jarvis.
Bill grew up in Redford, Michigan. After graduating from high school, he attended Central Michigan University where he obtained his teaching degree. Bill taught science for Mason Public Schools for 36 years. He also coached many sports teams during various times throughout his teaching career including baseball, basketball, football and track.
Most importantly Bill was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. His most precious times were those spent with his family. Bill and Donna met while both were students at CMU. The college sweethearts married in 1974, and their lifelong adventures began. Bill enjoyed sharing his love of nature and the outdoors with his family. Every summer began with a camping adventure in a National Park followed by summer fun at the family cottage in northern Michigan.
Bill loved all sports. Whether boating, swimming, water skiing or just jumping off the dock, he enjoyed it all, especially while his family were with him. Bill also enjoyed playing golf and passed this on to his sons. He also looked forward to playing golf with his special friends. Along with sports, Bill enjoyed being the family handyman. Repairing or creating, Bill could often be found in his workroom. When not enjoying a sport, or in his workroom, Bill would be outside maintaining his yard.
Bill attended New Hope Church in East Lansing. He was a man of strong faith which was evident in the life he lived. He was a kind, caring, man who will be greatly missed but is leaving us with wonderful memories.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Memory Care in Haslett for their friendship, help and support during Bill’s final days. Thank you also to family and friends for your support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823.
