

He was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Charleston, IL to George Hubert and Minnie Merle Ringo Cooley. He married Melba E. Rubenking in East Peoria on Aug. 7, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2000. He was also preceded by his parents and three brothers, Emery Laverne, Howard Eugene and George Hubert “Cy”.
Surviving are two sons, Steve (and Brenda) of Nashville, TN, Kevin (and Ann) of Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter, Jeanne (and Richard) Martin of East Peoria; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Ron (and Jo) of Charleston, IL; one sister, Ethel (Delbert) Cobble of Attica, IN; sister in law, Norma Dice of East Peoria; nephew, Dennis Hill of East Peoria; niece, Sue Blake of Putnam, IL; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Bobbie worked at Caterpillar Inc. for over 35 years retiring as a quality control supervisor. He later worked for Enterprise Car Rental. He was a United States Korean War Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria where he was an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. He loved to garden and cook, making his own special recipes, was a Chicago Cubs Fan and former President of East Peoria Little League.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria with Rev. Kurt Mews officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria and also 30 minutes before services at church on Monday. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorials may be made to his church building fund.
