Cardona "Cardie" Oakley

She was born October 4, 1940 in Decatur, IL to Athie “Happpy” and Sophie “Bernice” (Schulte) Thompson. She married Richard Oakley March 16, 1968 in Decatur, IL. Her parents, one brother William Thompson and Richard preceded her in death.

Surviving are her three children, Kari (Mike) Batey of St. Cloud, FL; Lori (Scott) Vogler of Marquette Heights; and Jeffrey Oakley of Jacksonville, NC; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one brother, Wilson (Bev) Thompson of Washington, IL and several nieces and nephews.

Cardie worked as a bookkeeper for the city of Chillicothe, IL for many years before later working as a bookkeeper for Dr. Donald Braunagle, DDS. Cardie loved to bowl, dance and play cards with her husband and their friends.

A visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5 to 6 pm at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation and burial of the urn will be at a later date.
