She was born Elizabeth Jane Watkins, on December 25, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri to James and Dorothy (Neimeyer) Watkins. She married Thomas Gill October, 17, 1946, in San Diego, California. He passed away April 19, 2006 in Morton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Debra Eppy of East Peoria.
She was the proud mother to three daughters Linda (and Tom) Chitwood, of Naperville, Debra (Richard) Eppy, of East Peoria, and Carolyn (Steve) Opper, of Metamora. She also enjoyed watching her family grow over the years with 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Betty worked as a secretary at Caterpillar Tractor Co, for 30 years, retiring in 1986. After retiring she volunteered for 9 years at Methodist Hospital in the medical imaging department. Her true passion was in raising and enjoying time with her three daughters. The foursome would take trips to Chicago, Florida, California, and to Nevada to visit the Grand Canyon. She loved spending time following her grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending the holidays with a house full of her family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Steve Clason will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
