Evelyn C. Harris

She was born Sep. 28, 1917 in Peoria to Leroy and Dorothy (Bock) McMullen. She married John B. Harris March 14, 1936 in East Peoria. He passed away July 4, 1978 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Pat (Paul) Markum of East Peoria, one son, Jack (Sue) Harris of East Peoria, five grandchildren: John Harris, Stacy (Harry) McDonald, Billy (Annie) Markum, Brett (Angie) Markum, Bridget (Cesar) Hernandez, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Evelyn worked for East Peoria High School in the Cafeteria for 37 years retiring in 1989. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in East Peoria (where she was very active), member of the East Peoria VFW Post 2078 Ladies Auxiliary, East Peoria Women’s Club, Fondulac Ladies Golf League, and the East Peoria Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 26, 2011 at 12 Noon at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday till time of services at Noon. The Eastern Star will perform services at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
