James T McElhaney

East Peoria – James “Mac” T. McElhaney, 73, of East Peoria, IL passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Healthcare in East Peoria. James was born May 28, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Harold and Golda (Goddard) McElhaney. He married Mary Flinn on May 8, 1965.

Surviving is his wife Mary McElhaney of East Peoria, IL, his son Harold “Hal” (Andrea) McElhaney of Pekin, IL, and five grandchildren: Drew, Jayden, Dylan, Camryn, and Belle. James was preceded in death by his parents and son Jimmy McElhaney.

Mac was a veteran of the United States Navy serving four years as a hurricane fighter. He retired as management (maintenance) at Caterpillar after thirty five years of service.

Mac was a member of the American Legion Post 1115 in Spring Bay, IL, the Navy Marine Club in Peoria Heights, IL, Joseph Robins Lodge #930 AF & AM where he was a Master Mason, and he was a member of the Mohammed Shriners of Peoria.

He was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Spud.

Services will be held at 10 am Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
