Born on May 25, 1980, in Peoria, Jeff lived a life marked by deep loyalty and heartfelt connections.
Jeff’s heart belonged to his wife and very best friend, Casey (Smith) Hanuski. Their bond was one of unconditional love and enduring friendship. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Bonnie Sally (Robert), Rebecca Hanuski, Scott Hanuski (Tara), Donna Martin (Calvin) and Danny Hanuski (Chira). Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nelle Hanuski, as well as his sister Tracy Hanuski (Behymer).
A man of many passions, music was one of his greatest loves—he played guitar with enthusiasm, always eager to learn new songs. Wrestling was another lifelong passion; whether it was classic matches or the latest events, Jeff followed it with excitement and knowledge. His love for horror movies and comic books added to the vibrant tapestry of interests that made him who he was.
Jeff had a special place in his heart for animals—and delighted in watching funny cat videos with genuine laughter. His pets were not just companions; they were family.
Jeff took immense pride in his work as a certified forklift operator. Always striving for more, Jeff had been exploring opportunities to advance into management roles. Providing for his wife and their beloved fur-babies was a source of pride and fulfillment for him.
Though not affiliated with any particular denomination, Jeff held strong spiritual beliefs. In recent years, he focused on living with intention—doing the next right thing—and holding fast to the faith that God would be there for him.
Those who knew Jeff will remember him as deeply nostalgic and sentimental—a man who valued memories and moments above all else. Family meant everything to him. He loved being an uncle and embraced the role of stepfather with warmth and devotion. His circle may have been small by choice, but it was filled with love; friends became family under Jeff’s care.
He often said, “It’s not the make and model—it’s the mileage that counts,” a phrase that perfectly captured his outlook on life: it’s not about appearances or status but about how fully you live each mile along the way.
May Jeffs memory bring comfort to all who knew him—and may his ripple continue far beyond what even he could imagine. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2025, from 05:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Folipi Market Place 2200 E. Washington St. East Peoria IL. A small gathering for family and very close friends to come together in Jeff's honor.
Flowers can be sent to Remmerts in East Peoria. Or a donation can be made in his honor to any animal rescue or homeless shelter of your choosing.
