He was born March 19, 1947 in Peoria to Lyall and Marguerite (Worth) Edwards.
Jerry is survived by many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jean Patton and Jackie Harmon.
Jerry was a beloved friend, a happy and easy-going man who touched the lives of everyone he met. He lived a life full of joy, kindness, and passion for his community, sports, and his faith.
Jerry graduated from the Illinois School for the Deaf in 1969. He went on to pursue higher education at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he graduated in 1972. He then went on to work at Phillips Swager & Associates Architect firm.
He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and the Peoria Rivermen hockey team. He often attended games, cheering for his favorite teams.
Jerry was an active member of both First Baptist Church in Peoria and the Rescue Deaf Church. His devotion to both communities was a testament to his character, as he built lasting relationships based on mutual respect, love, and service.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be scheduled soon.
