Judith A. Morris

Judith A. “Judy” Morris,76, of Marquette Heights, Illinois, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 14, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois. She was the daughter of Herbert St Elmo and Ruby Mary (Burton) Morris. She married Steven Mac Morris on June 8, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1994 in Wisconsin. She is also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

She is survived by four children, Jerry(Jane) Morris of Charlotte, North Carolina, Cathy Groel of Creve Coeur, Illinois, Maryann (Brian) McReynolds of Villa Rica, Georgia and Stephanie (George) Simpson of Pekin, Illinois. She has seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Judith is also survived by two brothers, Herbert (Mary) Morris of North Pekin, Illinois and Denny (Marsha) Morris of Groveland, Illinois. She has many nieces and nephews surviving.

She was a Laundry Supervisor at the Christian Buehler Home in Peoria for over 25 years also participating in helping with many events there and was a school bus driver in East Peoria for over 15 years. She operated a porcelain doll shop from 1977 to 2005 in her home, she was an avid Bingo player and many times referred to as the “Bingo Queen”. She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in East Peoria.

Funeral services will be at 5:30 PM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until services Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital.
