

Judith (Judy) Irene Skaggs – Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma – age 85, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at her residence where she has been surrounded with love by her family.
She was born September 22, 1940, the daughter of the late Irene and Duane Daub. She married the love of her life, John D. Skaggs on December 1, 1957. They lived a life filled with family, friends, faith, service to others, travel and running the Meineke business in Pekin and Bloomington. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2014. She has missed him dearly and looked forward to reuniting with him.
Judy’s legacy will carry on with her daughters and grandchildren. She is the mother of Debbie & Bob Necessary, Deanna & Marty Smith, Lynda & Tom Brown, and twins, Lori and Lisa Skaggs. She is grandmother to Kelly & Don Jolly, Stacey & Joel Wilson, Chelsey & Mike Kuper, and Austin & Marissa Brown. She has six great-grandchildren – Bryson, Delsy, Kaden, Brynley, Emma and Brantley.
Judy was passionate about all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, despite her mother being a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. She loved shopping with her girls! She was the best cook and baker and enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially at the Christmas holiday where she baked as many cookies as she possibly could every year and always adding new recipes.
John and Judy were faithful christians who attended church at Arcadia Presbyterian Church and Northminster Presbyterian Church.
She worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. In recent years, she proudly served with The Service League at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria for 30 years. She managed the toy department and worked in the flower shop spending countless hours volunteering alongside her dear friends to help others. It brought her great joy, especially the hard work she put into The Gift Show each year before the holidays.
At her request, there will be no service. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Swan Lake Memory Garden Chapel Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association and TAPS in Pekin IL.
