Laurie Mae Bailey

Born in Peoria, IL, to Marvin and Joann (Wilson) Lambert, she married Rick Bailey on April 16,1976 in East Peoria IL.

Surviving are her Husband, Rick Bailey; Son, Ben (Carly) Bailey; Daughter Lisa Bailey, Grandson, Parker Bailey, Brothers, Eric and Mike Lambert, Sister, Diane (Dan) Hughes, and her well-loved canine companion Athens Russel.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Brian Bailey on January 18, 2011; one brother Steven Lambert, and infant siblings, Martin and Marlene Lambert.

Laurie was a school nurse with Washington District 50 whose cheerful spirit brought comfort, kindness, and joy to students and colleagues alike. Being a mother of a special needs child, she showed endless strength, humbleness, and patience. She cared about the small things within each person and was a woman of deep faith whose love of God guided her along the way.

Her gardening reflected her caring and selfless nature. She tended to her flowers with the same compassion and attention she gave to family, friends, and anyone in need.

Dropping off thoughtful gifts to loved ones was a favorite pastime of hers. Whether it was a simple hug, a good laugh or a loaf of her amazing banana bread, she made others feel cherished and adored.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to TAPS No-kill Animal Shelter.

Visitation will be held at Remmert Funeral home Tuesday March 31st 5pm to 7pm.
