

Phillip “Phil” Dale Leathers, 74, of Peoria, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 12:42 p.m. on January 27, 2024, at Arc in Chillicothe. Born on June 15, 1949, to Hubert and Marie Leathers of Mt. Pulaski, IL.
He married Linda Witzig and together they had 3 children.
He is survived by his 3 children, Scott (Maureen) Leathers of Dunlap, Lisa (Jonathan) Adams of East Peoria, Ryan (Stormie) Leathers of Normal; six grandchildren, Drew (Aili), Brenna (Hayden), Declan, Genevieve, Holly and Hadley; one great-granddaughter, Elliot; his siblings, Jim, Gerald (Maggie), Ruth (Mike) Crist; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Gayle.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carroll, Hubert “Jr.,” and David.
Phil served in the U.S. Army and our country in Vietnam. He loved his family fiercely and never knew a stranger. He was always the life of the party and generous in giving to others. His hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, building muscle cars and spending time with family and friends. He loved his life and lived life to the fullest and was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren; however, he was at peace in his final days and ready to meet Jesus, God and his family in heaven.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1 from 5 to 7 pm at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Services will begin Friday, February 2 at 10AM at the funeral home followed by burial at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski at 12 Noon.
He will be missed greatly and forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors or Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
