I am still on shock that Ron is no longer with us. I worked with him in security at Riverside Church but he became a dear friend and a big brother to me. I miss him dearly. Ron was there for me in the worst of times to cheer me on and I am grateful because he got me through some very difficult times. My life is not the same without my dear friend and warrior in Christ but now I realize even more how God used Ron to help me grow as a person and as a Christian. The only comfort I have is knowing he is in a better place. We love you Ron! You finished well in the race here on earth in your Father's eyes. I'll see you again. In Christ's love, Heth

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. We were good friends in high school. He helped me with my first "Elvis" shows as roadie, backup singer and bodyguard! We had just recently connected again via facebook. "May God Bless You. We'll meet you again. Adios"!

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Ron. We went to high school together and even attended a dance together in my Senior year.I still remember him singing "I saw the Lord" He had a beautiful singing voice.He will be greatly missed.

Barb,  Ron was such a gentle,kind man.  He was a friend and brother to me in high school and beyond.  We sang together,laughed together, and cried together through the years.  His love for the Lord has been the hallmark of his life since he was a young man.  I cannot tell you how much I will miss my dear friend.

Ronnie was our baby brother.  Unfortunately, my sister Alice and I could not attend Ronnie's funeral.  I wish I were there.  However, now that I've been reading all your condolences
 (34 entries!), they give me great comfort.  I knew Ron was a dedicated Christian, I just didn't realize how many people's lives he touched in different ways.  I've always thought that the true measure of a successful life was how many people would miss you when you were gone - and I see that Ron led a truly successful life.  Lord, he's yours in Heaven now, but we will sorely miss him.  Jan. 16, 2011

My deepest sympathy to the family! I worked with Ronnie for many years at the police department where I always enjoyed the lengthy conversations we shared about the Lord. Ron knew Him personally and worked hard to ensure others did too.  Ron had a passion to help others in need.  Ron found a home at Riverside Community Church and spoke frequently of what the Lord was doing for him and others in the church.  I will miss Ron's cheerful demeanor and friendship.  He was a great asset to the people of Marquette Heights, his church and the Lord's team.

I am continually humbled and amazed by the work that God is doing at both the Riverside Community Church and the Peoria Dream Center.  Ron was a big part of that work!  Ron continually looked at his role of being a servant of God and nothing else.   I'll always remember Ron as being fearless because of his faith in Christ's power and love.

We would like to send our condolences to the Cherry family. We appreciate the years he kept the families in Marquette Heights safe.

I am sorry for your loss.  I grew up "on the hill" as we called it and went to school with Carolyn.  Ron was a little younger, so sadly, I never really got an opportunity to know him.   May the love of God and the comfort of friends surround you at this most difficult time.

As I sit here to write this I thought that I had the tears subsided and found that they have begun again. My Brother Ron I miss you so much. We were together in mind and spirit in so much from Drama to building sets to working security. To setting up seats for service in the begining at the Holiday INN. I seen you dedicate your life to everything that would advance the church of Jesus Christ at much sacrifice to your family and your own. I seen you work a 24 hour day and be at the church and cover an event so that other would be safe. You gave it all my brother. If I could be a mouse in your pocket to hear Jesus say to Welcome Good and Faithful Servent I have prepared your way. Your Golden voice singing Praise in Heavens band of Angels.For all Heaven is rejoicing for another soul has come HOME.

I was in shock to hear of Ron's passing.  I knew Ron all my life he was my brother TIm's best friend and Ron also shared his talent of singing  at my wedding.   He was a great man you loved the Lord, his family ,and friends.  He will be missed! Praying for Barb, Cassie and his family.

My prayers go out to the whole family especially Barb and Cassie.  My family lived close to Ron's family growing up, I remember when he was born and have watched him grow up. Our most sincere condolences go out to Barb and Cassie at the loss of a husband and father. Ronnie will be missed. He's worked on the security team with my dad, and while I was working with the Reaction group every Sunday he'd pass me and say hi. I think of him often, and I know he's in heaven. My deepest sympathy goes out to Barb and Cassi.

As I write this note in the guestbook of our dear friend and brother in Christ, my heart is saddened by the loss we feel, but also by the pain that his family is going through due to his passing. Ron was one of the most wonderful, gentle, compassionate and loving people that we have had the pleasure of being in ministry with and through that, we became very good friends and confidants with him as well. As we served in the security ministry at RCC with him, his passion for the lost and hurting brought about such a positive and lasting impression on us, that we will remember him throughout the years as being the best he could be, for Jesus. He was and always will be greatly loved by us and our loss, is for sure, heavens gain. We love and miss you Ron, and we look forward to the day when we will share company with you again...

Ron and I worked together in the Riverside Security Ministry for several years.  Ron worked diligently at all times to ensure the safety and well being of the pastors, staff and members of RCC.  He did so without accolades or monetary compensation.  His work at the church was his God given gift of service.  His passing is his family's and our loss, but heaven's gain.  It is not often that our paths cross such a man as Ron Cherry but those of us who knew him well have been tremendously blessed because of his friendship.  We all will miss him but we all will also celebrate the fact that he is waiting for us in heaven.  God bless his family, give them peace and blessed assurance.

Working with Ron over the last five years has been great. I have many great memories of him that I will never forget. The stories could go on and on. He was a great guy and would have done anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
