

Stella M. Cramer, age 97, of East Peoria, passed away Sunday December 1, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 30, 1916 in Roanoke to John and Charlotte (Collins) LaConte. She married Theodore Cramer May 27, 1939 in Eureka. He passed away December 11, 1971 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Greuter, one brother, Harold LaConte, and one daughter, Shirley Leverton.
Survivors include three children: Nancy (Robert) Riddle, Janet (Jerry) Berkley, Roger Cramer all of East Peoria, two ½ sisters: Edna (Lloyd) Cross of Vichy, MO, Myrtle Guarino of Tampa, FL, one son-in-law, Larry Leverton of Creve Coeur, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Stella graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1934. She then attended Brown’s Business College. She worked in the Advertising Dept. of Caterpillar, Inc. for five years and then was a Homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria for over 50 years. She was a member of the East Peoria Woman’s Club also for over 50 years. She was a former member of the East Peoria Home Extension for many years and a lifetime member of Caterpillars Retiree Club. In her early years she was a Girl Scout leader and a Den Mother for Boy Scouts. She was also a member of the East Peoria Historical Society.
Stella lived in the same house nearly 70 years and said she always had great neighbors. She kept a daily journal since 1964.
With the help of her family she was able to live on her own until her passing. In her golden years she said she enjoyed the visits to her home from her grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be so missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Funeral services will be Friday Dec. 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorials may be made to her Church, American Diabetes Association, or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
