He was born on May 10, 1928, in Peoria to Albert and Hazel (Murphy) Johnson. He first married Helen Martin in 1949 in Peoria. He later married Betty Glass on May 12, 1961, in Peoria. She passed away on July 26, 2006, in Spring Bay.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters and one grandson, Alan Todd Farris.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Master of Pekin, Tina (Keith) Wilson of Low Point and Michelle (Scott Hicks) Johnson of Peoria Heights; three sons, Thomas Johnson III of East Peoria, Robert (Brenda) Johnson of East Peoria and Bill (Lara) Johnson of Georgia; three step-sons, Charles Carmichael, Ronald Freres and Dennis Freres; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald (Nancy) Johnson of Creve Coeur and James Johnson of Hanna City.
Tom was a World War II Navy veteran. Following his time in the military, he was head of the camera department at Addressograph-Multigraph in Peoria for many years before retiring. He was a member and very active at the Spring Bay American Legion.
Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Spring Bay Cemetery. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
