Catherine Elizabeth Powell

Mrs. Catherine E. Bone Powell, age 89, of Atlanta, GA passed away June 27, 2012. Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Ernest T. and Lassie Ward Darnell. Mrs. Powell belonged to American Legion, Moose, Old Campbell County Woman's Club, Military Officers Association of America, Daughters of Confederacy, Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of World War I of the United States of America, The Military Order of the World Wars, and was a Board member of the National Memorial Day Association of Georgia held at Marietta National Cemetery. Mrs Powell was the first to receive the Mary E. Walker award at Fort McPherson. Mrs. Powell earlier retired from Grady Memorial where she worked in the post office and later Mrs. Powell retired as Postmistress at Fort McPherson and a volunteer at St James Thrift Shop in East Point, GA. Mrs Powell is survived by her children; Patricia (Tom) Craig and Donald (Toni) Bone; grandchildren, Dana Bone Camp and Nicholas Craig; great-grandchildren, Dylan Camp; brother; Raymond (Maxine) Darnell and sister; Linda (Louie) Williams and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, June 29, 2012 from 2-6 pm at Carmichael-Hemperley 2968 East Point St. East Point, GA. 30344. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
