I am very sorry to hear about Buck's passing. I am a distant cousin - my grandmother, Marie Parker Fields, was Buck's dad, Jame's sister. 

I am thinking about all of you and praying for you. Please let me know if we can do anything.

Skeeter, Buck showed me this, and we talked about a long time.  For about 5 years, every Friday we would eat Mexican Food, and talk.  A good friend, taught me a lot.  Thanks for posting that, as everyone should know how much he did for our country, and how it impacted him.  His family should be very proud.  I know I am, and just a friend.

Buck a nine, my friend.  For well over 25 years.  We talked about this day.  Here it is.  You are a great soul, and a Vietnam War hero.  Wish I could have done more.  Love ya, Buck.  Miss ya, as well.

So sorry for your loss of Buck. I remember way back,don't remember exactly when but it was when we lived in East Point. Mother had a hole in her ceiling where someone had fell through from he actic. Buck came and fixed it for her for free, materials and all. He was a good soul and will be missed much. Love to you all, Cathy

My brother served with the HHC, 2nd Bn. Airborne, 503rd Inf.. He was so proud to be a part of Operation Junction City. In the mid-morning, 0900 hours on 22 Feb. 1967, the 173rd Airborne Brigade jumped into history in the vicinity of Katuim, Republic of Vietnam...23 C-130 aircraft drops and 845 airborne troops that day. When Buck came home, he was sent to West Point for 3 weeks to help show cadets what they may face when they go to Vietnam.President Johnson put Buck and other combat veteran Airborne soldiers into the 82nd Airborne Brigade and sent them back to Vietnam.Buck had less than 1 year left in the army. I think he had been over there about 4 months, while out in the fields about 2 weeks.His commander received a radio message to "have Buck ready...there is a helicopter on the way to pick him up and take him to Saigon Airport where a plane will be waiting to take him home." The Lieuteneant wanted to know who in the Hell he knew...Buck just smiled and said, "Mom." Buck also received the Bronze Star Medal for valor. I read what he and another guy did together to earn this medal. He gave me the paper that he was supposed to turn into the Army, but, never did. He did not let me know this until years later. Buck had so many bad memories of that war and too many nightmares.
