

complications of lung cancer. He was born in Lagrange, GA Sept 6, 1925 son of Frances Cleveland and lC
Schaudies, Sr. He received his education at schools in Lagrange, GA, later attending Auburn University
and a Graduate of Southern College of Pharmacy Atlanta, GA, June 27, 1951. He became affiliated with
Merritt Drug Store in East Point where he completed 50 years of employment there, as the city of East
Point grew so did Merritt Drug Store moving to several different locations to accommodate its growth.
He was a long time member of the Lions Club, a 50 yr member of the Masonic lodge, a 60 yr member of
First Baptist Church of East Point, a Sunday school teacher, Chairman of the Deacons, Choir member and
was involved in all church programs. His love for his church and community were only second to his love
of his family. To the many customers at Merritt Drugstore he is remembered as "Dr. Cooper" as he was
available to them 24/7 to help with their needs. He will always be remembered as kind, loving, generous
and understanding of others. Cooper took seriously his love for God and the people he came in contact
with and practiced this daily. He was preceded in death by sons, Don Adamson and Bill Adamson. He is
survived by Kathleen R. Adamson Schaudies of East Point; son, Larry Schaudies and his wife, Joann of
Poolesville, MD; daughters, Emily Schaudies of locust Grove, GA, and Karen Schaudies Briscoe and
husband John of Byron, GA, and son Gary Adamson of East Point, GA; sister, Virginia S. Lee of Atlanta;
brother, Jessie Pike Schaudies and his wife, Adel of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Sidney and Wesley
Briscoe, Melinda Walton, Stace Adamson, Jeff Adamson, Stephanie and Lindsey Adamson; five
great grandchildren; nieces, Nancy Neal, Peggy Lee, Sylvia Wharton, Carolyn Morton; nephews, Paul
Schaudies, Jay Schaudies and Jim Schaudies; and many other relatives.
Viewing at Carmichael Funeral Home in East Point Thursday 5:00-8:00 and Friday 5:00-8:00. Funeral
Service will be Saturday, May8, 2010, in Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of East Point, burial at Westview
Cemetery in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of East Point.
