Mr. Howard was born in Decatur, TN to Mary and Charles Howard, Sr. He was a US Marine veteran of the Korean War and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the Teamster Union as a long-distance driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gene, Victor and Herbert Howard.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Jeanette Howard; daughter, Donna Howard; sister, Ruth (Calvin) Rogers; brother, Elic Howard; niece, Erica Klein; and nephews, Corey (Jessika) Klein, and Todd and Jeff Klein.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be at 1 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Combs officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
