Susan, we have just learned of Dan's passing.  Our family was overjoyed when you and Dan got married. You both brought joy to each other. And to all who knew you. We send our love and prayers to the entire family. Blessings, Ginger, Mike and Brooke

Mr. Johnson was my 4th and 6th grade teacher at Lutheran in the 1960"s.  I especially enjoyed our Friday afternoon kickball games.  The game held on November 22, 1963, ended with us learning of President Kennedy's assassination in Dallas.  After he left teaching and became a house painter he painted for my mother and father, and, later, for me and my wife.  He remained a friend.  I will miss him-especially our conversations on current events.  I am sorry that I was out of town and only learned of his death in the last few days.  My thoughts are with you at this time.

Mr. Johnson was my 7th and 8th grade teacher at Lutheran School, and has remained my most favorite teacher of all time. I loved his hilarious stories and great wit and hearing  about his early Alaska days. He inspired me every day with his great smile and wonderful advice for most any subject. The Lutheran family has lost a top notch man that I will never forget. Keeping the Johnson family in my prayers.

Dan was principle during some of my time at Lutheran School. Once while in the sixth grade David Holbrook and I decided to sneak away during lunch break and dine out. (Walked to the Quickie Restaurant on corner of Belvoir and Ringgold Road) In order to shorten a lengthy story we were caught upon our return and sent to Dan's office. Terrified, we didn't know what to expect from this rather large man (at that time) with the ever present cigar. Having known both of us and our parents since day one at school he just sort of raised that one eyebrow and then a half smile and told us that dining out would not be an option in the future and sent us back to class. Whew, so relieved. I don't even recall he ever mentioned it to our parents. It's funny, it seems sometimes I can't remember what I ate or where I ate lunch yesterday but will NEVER forget that lunch. Had him as a teacher the following year in the seventh grade. His dedication to the school and to First Lutheran Church are unsurpassed. May God comfort the family during this time of grief.

Dan was my 5th grade teacher at the Lutheran School. At 67 I don't have a lot of memories about those days. However I do remember Dan's yellow Ford with all the stickers from his many travels and his signature cigar. Debbie and I are out of town and will be unable to attend your service. Rest in peace dear friend. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family.

Mr.Johnson was my Teacher for 4 years at Lutheran, I had him for 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grade. He also coached our Boys Football Team and basketball team ! I never could get away from him, joking. He was much much more than a Teacher , he had just moved here from washington and loved making learning fun !He also was Principal and once caught me and 2 others smoking and took us to the "office" where he told us about the evils of smoking while smoking the largest cigar i had ever seen. He was a joy my choir's leader and a mentor and made learning fun all his stories and field trips were still some of my best memories ever. He was there for my when my parents divorced and seemed to really care. You Mr. Dan Johnson were a Legend !!!!!!!!!!!!

We pray for strength and comfort for Susan and the family. Dan will be greatly missed by all of us at First. Heaven's music has gotten even better.

We will miss Dan so much.  He always had a twinkle in his eyes. He was a special man and a big part of our church family.
