

After graduating from Concordia River Forest College he took a call to teach at the Lutheran School (BCA) in Chattanooga, TN. He loved the Lord and was an active member of First Lutheran Church on McCallie Avenue where he was organist for 51 years. He also served as their choir director for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Iver Johnson, mother, Ragnhild Johnson, both of Tacoma, WA; brothers, Iver, Walter and Dave Johnson and a grandson, Samuel Massey Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Johnson; sons, Danny (Krisi), Erik (Anna), Kirk (Jennifer) Johnson, Gordon Harper and Noah Harper; daughter, Bethany (Duffy) Dillard; eight grandchildren, Grace, Logan, Aidan, Caroline, Caleb and Alexander “AJ” Johnson and Reed and Lydia Dillard; sister, Ingeborg (Bob) Wilking.
A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Thursday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Gilbert Pingel officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 – 5:30 PM Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who feel inclined to provide memorial contributions to Belvoir Christian Academy, 800 Belvoir Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
