David was an Iowa farm boy, the oldest of eight siblings. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam and settled in Chattanooga after the marriage of his first wife Carole. He loved horses, John Deere tractors and bountiful gardens. He was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church where he worshiped, served on committees and volunteered as a bus driver. He also drove a VA van for several years, transporting disabled vets to medical appointments in Murfreesboro.
David was preceded in death by his first wife Carole Elizabeth Harding Appleget, and his parents Richard and Colleen Ruth Appleget.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Appleget, his son Daniel Appleget, three brothers and spouses, Donnie and Martha Appleget, John and Glenda Appleget, Ray and Renee Appleget, four sisters and spouses, Jane Lane, Ruth Ann and Bobby Woolems, Connie Storey, Bonnie and Steve Cockrill. The Appleget clan also includes many nieces and nephews. He loved and was loved in return by Ruth's three children, their spouses and grandchildren.
David lived upright before God and his fellow man. He has gone to his heavenly reward. My cowboy will ride again!!!
A graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday, November 12th at 1:00PM with military honors. Please attend and celebrate the life of David.
