David J. Fidati, aged 71 born in Scranton, PA, went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; two siblings, Karen and Brian; three children, Lindsay (Scott) Nimmon, David (Angela), and John; and three granddaughters, Madeline Nimmon, Olivia Fidati, and Evangeline Fidati. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. and a celebration of life at 11:00 on December 6, 2025 at Hope Church, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, where David pastored for 30 years.
David and I (Kathy) met our first week of our freshman year in college. He was reserved, a deep thinker, and an introvert. He was also very good looking with great hair. David became my dearest friend and my husband for over 50 years. David was sure of his calling to be a pastor and serve the Lord well. He was asked to plant a church in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, where he faithfully preached the truth of the scripture for 30 years. David loved our family - our three children (whose tributes follow below) and three granddaughters. He also loved and cared for the church family. When I look over our lives together, I am struck by the legacy he has left. David did the work God had prepared for him to do, and he leaves a legacy of faithfulness, godliness, kindness, honesty, integrity, and love. He will be remembered with fondness. David saw the importance of helping others and future generations by teaching and living out the hope of the gospel.
A grin that touched his earlobes. Blue eyes, sparkling with pride, love, and joy. A deep, soul settling breath before beginning to pray. High-pitched giggles from a body, bent at the waist, followed by, “Oh my“ as he caught his breath. Sincerity that led to deep and long reflection. Apologies over a lifetime, revealing growth and grace. This is what it was to grow up in the presence of my dad.
His standards were high and rightfully so. Everything he expected and wanted from / for me, he did himself. Each day he spent working hard, doing everything to the best of his ability and never an idle hand. He lived up to his name by being loving and faithful to my mom, my siblings, and me. We never lacked anything - he provided a solid foundation for faith, education, and success in life by what he taught me and the example he showed.
A late relationship to bloom
Always very sincere and helping everyone
Smartest man I knew
A sense of humor that could reach any crowd
The whole reason I have any good, strong characteristics
A true light of who Christ is
