Earnest Leonard “E.L.” Murray, 78, of Rising Fawn, GA passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 in a local hospital. He was a member of Rising Fawn Baptist Church and the Trinity Sunday School Class. He had worked at Dupont, Retired as a Baptist Minister, served as Chaplain at Hutcheson Medical Center, Retired from Alloy Fabricators and most recently was a staff associate with Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist. E.L. was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mickey Murray and his parents, Ernest and Roma Jewell Murray.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Crowder Murray; four daughters, Christie McMahan, Belinda Price, Renae Haney and Cindy Crowell; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Murray; sister, Jeanette Womac; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Crider and the Rev. Billy Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
