Edward Z. Skwiot

Edward Zigmund Skwiot, 82 of Meriden, Connecticut died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at his home in Trenton, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Skwiot was a member of Holy Cross Church in New Britian, CT. He was graduate of New Britain High School and attended Central Connecticut State University. He worked in construction for many years before teaching at H. C. Wilcox Technical School until he retired in 1992. He had a passion for Bluegrass music, played multiple instruments and enjoyed his jam sessions at various venues in both Chattanooga and Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Valeria Switaj Skwiot, and siblings Joe, Stanley, Walter, Zigmund, Genevieve Stewart, Florence Little and Charlotte Doria.

He is survived by his wife Doris Bell Skwiot; his children, Paul, Karl, David and Noel of Connecticut and Maxine Baldyga of New Hampshire; his stepchildren Michael Bell of Chattanooga, Patrick Bell of Trenton, Georgia and Jennifer Bell Peeker of Atlanta, Georgia; ten grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, three great step grandchildren; his sister Theresa Lerner of Hollywood, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Annette Flynn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 2 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 PM Monday.
