

Mrs. McDonald was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was always active in the life of the church. She was a graduate of MTSU and worked as a teacher. After marrying U. L. McDonald during WW II she worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory while he was stationed away. When they came to Chattanooga she served as a wife, a mother, PTA President, Church Circle leader, Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Kindergarten teacher, and later as a proud grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Lois Patton; her husband of 47 years, U. L. McDonald; sisters, Margaret Ernst and Betty McMillan; and brother, Wilson Patton.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Rick) Smith, Mary Beth (Sam Anderson) McDonald, and Patty (Bill) Counts; grandsons, Brian Smith and Kevin McDonald Smith; and sister, Jean Nesbit.
Memorial Services will be at 3 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Mills officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 PM at the church.
The family wishes to thank Hospice and her caretakers Patsy King, Terry Scruggs and Ruth Monohan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church (104 McBrien Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412) or Hospice of Chattanooga (4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416).
