

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Franklin J King, who departed this life on November 23, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born on July 25, 1924, Franklin lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Throughout his life, Franklin touched the lives of many through his career as a Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and through his involvement in the First Christian Church and other community organizations. His warmth, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by Marguerite King, his wife, and Denise King his daughter.
Franklin is survived by his son, Forrest A King, his grandsons, Alan King and Jay Andrew King, and five great-grandchildren, Sadie, Marguerite, Cooper, Clara, and Toby, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery alongside his beloved wife, Marguerite. There will be no formal services held per Franklin’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of their choice, in honor of Franklin's enduring legacy of compassion and service.
Franklin, your memory will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.
