

Hazel Ruth Frady (nee Hester) gained her angel wings at the age of 87 on Saturday, December 5, 2020, in peaceful comfort at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Tunnel Hill, GA. Hazel was born in Springs, GA on October 27, 1933. She was a longtime resident of East Ridge, TN.
Hazel, known to many as Granny, or Doc, was a Nurse's Aide, a career that expanded through four different decades. She retired from Erlanger Hospital in 1995. Hazel expressed her love for others through her joy of cooking, and her door was always open to visits and stays from loved ones. Throughout her life, Hazel most enjoyed spending time and vacationing with her family, shopping, bowling, watching her favorite television shows, and sewing.
Hazel was reunited in death to her husband Russell "Junior" Gordon Frady, Jr. whom she was married to from 1954 until his untimely death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her father Clyde Hester, mother Jessie Lee Hester (nee Seay), sisters Dorothy Jean Jones and Barbara 'Ann' Walker, brother Fred Allen Hester, sons-in-law James "Jim" Everett Gallant and Rozzell "Roscoe" "Rozz" Allen Phillips, and her great grandson Dakota "Cody" Lee Clark.
Survivors include her son Jerry "Bubba" and Tina Frady, Sr. of Thomasville, NC, daughters Vicky Gallant of Rossville, GA, Margie and Tony Clark of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Shirley Phillips of East Ridge, TN, brother Bobby Hester of East Ridge, TN, sister Mary Yates of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, grandchildren Tonya Clark, Jennifer West, Misty (Bobby) Whitmire, Michael Frady, Rusty (Aurea) Clark, Heather Phillips, Jessica Gallant, Stephanie McEntyre, and Hannah Frady, twelve great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren with two more expected to arrive in 2021, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Daniel L. Beard of Action Church, a surrogate grandson to Hazel, officiating. A graveside service will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens 5351 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8pm on Wednesday, December 9, at the funeral home. Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged at this time.
