

Mr. Williams was born in Nashville, TN to Sylvester and Callie Williams. He was a member of Hickory Valley Christian Church where he belonged to the Berean Sunday School Class and a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in Normandy and Northern France. He owned and operated the Big 4 Bike Shop on Main Street in Chattanooga for many years.
He was preceded in death by parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mattie Williams; daughters, Linda (Gary) True and Rose (Bill) Williams; grandchildren, Valeria (Tom) Sloan, Carrie (Billy) Smith, Shawn O’Neal, Chuck (Brandy) Williams and Steven (Carly) Williams; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the funeral home with Dale P. Lovelady officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Avalon Hospice, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 19. Chattanooga, TN 37421. The family would like to give a special thanks to Avalon Hospice including Margaret Grimsley, RN; Don Sapp, Chaplain; Sandra Patterson, RN; and Teresa Mason, Hospice Aide.
