Jack Dodson “Papa” Buckner, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was born to the late Jack Dodson Buckner, Sr. and Anne Cutter Buckner on April 13, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jack was a graduate of Chattanooga Central High School. He married Juanita Rogers in 1953 and they have lived in Chattanooga since their marriage. Jack was a veteran of the US Army and retired Captain of the U.S. Army Reserve. He served his unit in Desert Storm at the age of 59.
Throughout his life Jack has been a devout Christian and attended Kings Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Sally and Wes; grandchildren, Aimie, Angie, Jacqui and Brent; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Trevor, Cole and Olivia; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Herman Saunders officiating. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
