James Herndon Fulmer, Jr, age 76, passed away on December 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was predeceased by his parents, James H Fulmer, Sr, and Doris Smith Fulmer. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Karen Moseley Fulmer; his two children, Meg Brasel (Thomas) and Jake Fulmer (Keshia); and two very special grandchildren, Tae and Ansel Brasel. He is also survived by his sister Betty Varnell (Wendell), his brother-in-law Gordon Moseley, and sister-in-law Jean Ann McAfee (Tommy). Other family includes four cousins, seven very special nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children. Jim also leaves behind his "little brother" Zach Waters, with whom he shared many wonderful adventures. They have remained friends throughout his life.
Jim was a Christian who loved the Lord. He was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church and was active with the Uganda Children's Ministry.
Jim graduated from Brainerd High School in 1967. He loved BHS and the "Rebels" that were his friends. To those who had grown up with him, he was "Jimmy", widely known for his jokes, pranks, and being a general source of entertainment in the classroom.
His wit and sense of humor did not fail him in his adult years. His friends could count on him to be a little mischievous and a lot of fun, but they could also count on his generosity and lasting friendship.
Jim began his career at Fulmer Concrete Finishing Company, working alongside and learning from his much-loved father. Later, as Jim Sr. retired, Jim transitioned the company toward commercial concrete, which he eventually ran with his partner Tim Collins. Jim was also a partner in East Tennessee Grading Company, where he enjoyed working with friends Robert Smith and Tim Collins. Throughout his life, Jim was an ambitious and adventurous entrepreneur: worm farming, installing swimming pools, barbecue restaurateur, and flipping houses aided in keeping this restless guy busy. Even though he worked long hours, he never lacked the energy for singing, swimming, playing ball in the yard, hunting for gigantic Christmas trees, and throwing his kids around in the bean bag. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with Meg and Jake.
Jim always had a cheerfulness about him that would light up the room and make us smile. Не will be missed very much.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. If you would like to honor Jim, please feel free to make a donation in his memory to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chattanooga, 2015 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga TN, 37404.
