Joann was born and raised in London, England. She graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College with a Bachelors in Nursing and earned her Masters Degree from Vanderbilt University. She retired from Cleveland State College as Associate Professor of Nursing after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Florence Colyer.
Surviving are her daughter, Kay Heartland, AKA Joey Denise Barber; and brother, Roy Watson of Westcliffe Essex, England.
Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the funeral home with Dr. J. Michael Bates officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
A gathering for friends will follow the burial from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday. Please call 899-1383 for directions.
