John H. Crownover

Mr. Crownover was born and raised in Anderson, TN. He was a member of Tiftonia Church of Christ where he served as an elder. John served in the US Army in the Battle of the Bulge, and retired from CSX Railroad as a Signal Maintainer after 42 years of service. Mr. Crownover was an avid reader of the Bible and historical books, and was well-known for his knowledge of the Bible.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Crownover; granddaughter, Anna Crownover; brothers, Jim, George and Maurice; and sisters, Martha Lee Garner and Ella Gonce.

Surviving are his children, Susan Newman, David (Susan) Crownover, Brenda (Danny) Buffington and Darren (Wendy) Crownover; grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Cabrera, Amanda, Michael and Lacey Newman, Matthew and Kelby Crownover, Miranda (Manny) Crochet, Brandy (Graham) Hines, Cale Buffington, and Beth, Casey and Sydney Crownover; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Maggie) Crownover; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home and 9 to 11 AM on Friday at the church.

Funeral Services be at 11 AM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Tifftonia Church of Christ (159 Browns Ferry Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37419) with Minister Gary McDade and Minister Roy Clark officiating.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens West.
