I first met John Allen soon after he returned from the Navy.  Because he and my husband Bob Brookshire had been close friends and playmates since birth I heard many wonderful stories about their escapades growing up in Guntersville.  In the beginning they lived right across from each other in Carlise Park. Later Bob move a street over. Bob's parents,  Johnny and Sarah Brookshire, also loved John Allen.  He was a part of many Brookshire events.  After the Navy, John Allen moved to Chattanooga and worked with Bob at TVA.  We like to credit ourselves with introducing John to Becky.  I have always said that they were a match made in Heaven".  Their personalities seemed to me to complement each other's so well.  It was always fun to be around this couple!  
John Allen had some surprising talents.  I remember when he went through a period where he enjoyed making cheesecake for his friends and family!  Additionally, Bob and I were so amazed when John Allen became an artist!  His pen and ink drawings and paintings were wonderful as he depicted their beloved pets, their house in Cresent Park, and historical settings.  
Yes, we will miss John Allen Hooper.  We have always counted he and Becky as our closest friends. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family.

John was a great friend.  I and my whole family will miss him greatly.  We grew up together in Alabama.  He was like one of the family.  I will never forget going to the Navy Recruiting office when he joined the Navy.  It was a long six years but we stayed in touch via the mail.  I had the privilege of working with him and Becky at TVA.  He had a lot of artistic ability and we looked forward to his Christmas cards each year.  God bless the Hooper family.

Rebecca and family,we are sorry for your loss in the death of John Allen.he was kind and generous in high school and in recent years at mchs high reunions exemplified those same qualities along with his congenial spirit. John Allen was truly a blessing to our family. He is the only reason I will consider cheering for Alabama football. We will love and miss him forever.

I remember John as being a fun loving friend and member of Kerry Jackson's Rock and Roll Band. We had a lot of memorable times while we were in high school.  We both enlisted in the Navy and met up one time in California and it was nice seeing him again.  After that we lost track of each other and I am sorry to hear that he has passed on. I am happy that he had a good life. My sincere condolences to his family.

John personified good listener. He listened to Dad, he listened to Mom, he listened to us all. A wonderful, patient, understanding, and by far highly intelligent and wise man. To be missed and love for a long time.
