

Born July 11, 1915, he had been an active member of the Alexian Brothers since entering the Congregation in 1941. He served in an impressive number of ministries, including Registered Nurse, Food Service Director, Bookkeeper, Director of Candidates and Pastoral Care Staff.
He studied for the Catholic Priesthood and was ordained in 1985. Once ordained he returned to Signal Mountain where rapidly he developed a following of generous persons who continue today the spirit of prayer and service as he modeled.
Brother Maro Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Joseph Cannon and Ella Josephine Walsh Cannon, as well as by his 4 brothers and 2 sisters. His surviving nieces Patricia Kelliher and Judy Cannon, RSM plus nephews Gerry and Patrick Cannon complete the picture. Numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews complete the family list.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lone Oak Community Center and Clinic, or to the Alexian Village Employee Education Fund.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 7 PM on Wednesday at Alexian Village where a 7 PM Vigil Service will be held in the St. Augustine Chapel.
Additional visitation will be from 8 to 11 AM in the chapel with an 11:15 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 9, 2011, followed by a 2 PM Graveside Service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
