She was born on June 5, 1927, in Chattanooga, to the late Hale W. and Katherine (King) Holland. Katherine graduated Girls Preparatory School in 1945. She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and went on to get her BS in psychology from the University of Chattanooga. Katherine worked in the Hamilton County Trustee’s office for over 40 years.
She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Chattanooga Country Club since 1988. Katherine was active at the First-Centenary United Methodist Church where she was the chair of the altar guild and was instrumental in the installation of the memorial garden at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hale Carmack Holland and her niece, Amy Holland Romeo. She is survived by her niece, Angela Holland Mills (Timothy Mills), of Franklin, TN; her great nieces, Katherine Ann Romeo of Chicago, IL, and Ashley Hale Mills of Franklin, TN; her great nephew, Timothy Boyd Romeo, Jr.(Tee) of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the First-Centenary United Methodist Church of Chattanooga.
