

Laura Riner Englerth died on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the age of 90. Mrs. Englerth was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on February 23, 1932 to the late Charles Benjamin and Nina Bell Henderson Rimer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Englerth and her sister, Elizabeth Rimer. She was reared in Knoxville, TN, Sheffield, AL, Biltmore, NC and Newport, TN.
Mrs. Englerth graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College and The University of Chattanooga. After graduation she moved to New York City where she was employed by Cunard Shipping Lines.
She later returned to Chattanooga to begin a career in teaching. Mrs. Englerth taught in the Chattanooga Public Schools before accepting a position at the Bright School where she was a member of the faculty for 34 years.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting interesting books and geneology.
Mrs. Englerth was a direct descendant of Thomas Jefferson Bell who was in the Continental Army and stations at Yorktown during the Revolutionary War. She was a member of First Christian Church, American Association of University Women, Chi Omega Sorority and various professional and educational organizations.
Survivors include her son, Russ Englerth; niece, Cindy Dupree: nephews, Hutch Englerth and Phillip Mitchell; several cousins.
Graveside services will private at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. At her request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
