Mrs. Gamel was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois. She was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Gamel, Sr.; parents, Frank and Jane Adkins; son, Ben Gamel, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy and Polly; and brother, Bill Adkins.
Surviving are her son, John (Deborah) Gamel of Helena, Alabama; five grandchildren, Melissa, Teresa, Debbie, Amy, and Michael; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrte Reedy; brother, Jim Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Ringgold, Georgia.
