

Leonard Herschel Schroder, a resident of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on October 6, 1931, to the late George and Leila Schroder.
A brave and devoted individual, Herschel served as a veteran of the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. His hard-working nature earned him both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. In the 1960s, he became the owner of Mosteller's Towing and Garage.
Herschel was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Georgia Carr, and a half-brother, Bill Crider.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Herschel was a faithful and loyal family man, survived by his son Richard Schroder, his twin daughters Vickie West and Valerie (Terry) Ramsey, his granddaughters Ashley (Jimmy) Collins and Tara (Dustin) Burchard, and his great-grandchildren Liam Collins, Emilea Burchard, and Annlee Burchard.
An adventurous spirit, Herschel enjoyed taking trips with his family and friends in his plane. He was an active member of the Red Fez Club, where he and his wife enjoyed swimming and boating. Leonard also had a passion for car shows.
In his community, Herschel was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge and the Alhambra Shrine for over 50 years. He served as Captain of the Honda 750 unit and was a member of the Harley patrol unit and Cushman unit, participating in many Christmas parades.
Of the Methodist faith, Herschel was a member of Graysville United Methodist Church. His legacy of faithfulness and loyalty will be remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Herschel's Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday December 4, 2025, at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Herschel's memory to the Alhambra Shrine Temple.
Leonard's adventurous, loyal, and hard-working spirit will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
