Mary Ellen White, age 96, of Chattanooga went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2011. She was born February 23, 1914 in Chattanooga the daughter of the late Joseph Felton and Cynthia Moore Lowry. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hugh White, and a daughter Charlotte Ann McCallie.
Mrs. White was the oldest member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church. She worked for over 40 years in the Chattanooga City School System.
Survivors include daughter Ruth White (Jon O.) Keene, son Hugh Lowry “Jake” White, son-in-law Dr. Bill McCallie, grandchildren Mary Ann McCallie Hurless, Lt. Col. Sam McCallie, Jack Keene and Kurt (Emily) Keene, great grandchildren Cash Keene and M’Leigh Keene
Graveside services will be held Thursday February 10 at 1:00 pm in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Wayland Stuart officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 – 12 Thursday
