

Mildred was a native of Berea, Kentucky and was a dedicated member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Fellowship Class and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Berea College, received her Master’s from the University of Tennessee, her PhD from the University of Georgia and the Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX. Mildred was retired from Hamilton County Schools where she worked at Central High School and East Ridge High School and retired from Walker County Public Schools where she taught at Rossville High School and served as the Clinical Psychologist for the county school system. She was also a professional story teller and conducted storytelling workshops and seminars across the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert R. Sanders.
Surviving are her daughter, Dorris and her husband Henry Fischer; granddaughter, MacKenzie Fischer; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, January 8th at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will follow at 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Dial officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist.
