Nathan attended Central and City High Schools, graduating in 1958. He met his soul mate, Alice Hill Baubach, when he was racing his parents’ 1957 Chevy against her, driving her father’s Oldsmobile, on the interstates under construction in Chattanooga.
Nathan was an executive officer at Hamilton Bank in Chattanooga. After this, he spent the better part of his career buying and selling cars. He had car lots on Brainerd Road, East Brainerd Road, and more recently, East Ridge, for about four decades. He was not your typical car salesman and if you knew “Nate,” you know what we mean.
Nathan had a big heart and enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed cars, boats, dogs and dining, to name a few.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and his brother, Michael Baubach of Chattanooga.
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Baubach of Virginia; son, Brent (Dana) Baubach and grandson, Corey Elmore, of Florida; brother, Dean Baubach of Chattanooga; and nieces and nephews.
Nathan will be laid to rest privately at Chattanooga Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Rd. East Ridge, TN 37412.
