

Philip was born in Alexandria, VA to the late Lewis and Mary Bell. He retired from the U. S. Army Military Police as a Sergeant Major, was past president of the Civil War Round Table in Richmond, VA, and served on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries. He was also a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where he served as the Fellowship Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Janine Bell; children, Kimberly Dawn Bell-Schultheis and husband, Joseph of Nashville, TN; Jefferey Lewis Bell and wife, Miriam, of Catonsville, MD; and Kellye Simerley of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, Brandon, Liam, Jarrod, Ashley, and Cora; great-grandson, Connor; and sisters, Janet Moody of Soddy Daisy, TN and Laura Jenney of Rossville, GA.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday and Noon to 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Dial officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries, Inc. (3480 Stellhorn Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815-4630).
