

Ronald Neal Spear, age 57, a life long resident of Chattanooga, faithful husband, father, poppy, brother, uncle and churchmember, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2010. He was deacon at Calvary Bible Church and retired from the U. S. Army Reserve after 24 years. He was preceded in death by his father Johnny Leo Spear Jr. A member of the 212th transportation unit and the Garrison units, he was activated during the Desert Shield/ Storm War as an air arrival and departure First Sergeant.
Ron was a graduate of Dade County High School and attended Chattanooga State Community College and several Military Schools and Austin Peay State University. He attended Mid South Beauty School and received several awards for his styling competition. For the past five years he has served as account manager at CSSI. He was a member of the Chattanooga Chapter of Christian Motorcycle Association.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Dale Gilbert Spear of East Ridge, two sons, Chris Spear and his wife Wendy of Chattanooga, David Spear of Indiana. Granddaughter Hannah Spear of Chattanooga, Mother Betty Spear of Red Bank, Brother Kenneth Spear and wife Shirley of Chickamauga, GA. Sister, Teresa Handley and husband Ed of Chattanooga, several nieces and nephews. Three loving Yorkies Tori, Mollee, and LuLu.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Calvary Bible Church, 4300 Mountain Creek Road, Red Bank, with Rev. John Lanham and P.D. Booth officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday February 23, 2010 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund at Chattanooga Christian School or to the Big Brother Big Sister of America organization of Chattanooga.
