Shirley was born and raised in Harriman, TN. She moved to Chattanooga after High School to join the U. S. Army where she served in Ft. Oglethorpe as a WAC. She was a devoted mother of six children and had previous belonged to the Philadelphia Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Luther Daugherty; and son, Michael Daugherty.
Surviving are her children, Rachel (Carlton) Grant, Paul (Chris) Daugherty, Sandra (Randy) Kerfoot, Gary (Debbie) Daugherty and Susan (Jimmy) Howard; daughter-in-law, Dana; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 AM on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Henson officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
