He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Mary Jane Clayton Eldridge.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Virgie Eldridge; two sons, Bryan Eldridge and Robert (Sandra) Eldridge; five grandchildren, Robert Eldridge, Jr., Hannah Eldridge, Cody Bowman, Haley Thomas and Taylor Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Jayla Bowman and Madison Walston; two brothers, Don Eldridge and John Eldridge; one sister, Betty (Paul) Humberd; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrill Millsaps officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Hospice of Chattanooga.
