Tom Shaver

He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Mary “Lucy” Shaver; son, Robert “Butch” (Dee Dee) Shaver, as well as two granddaughters, Buffi Crouch and Amber (John) Clemmer; four great grandchildren, Cameron Clemmer, Paul Jefferson “P.J.” Crouch, Rand Beck, and Sarah Grayce Crouch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He retired from Combustion Engineering after 39 years of service. He was a longtime member of East Ridge Baptist Church (now Crosspath Church) where he serviced as parliamentarian, a trustee, Sunday school secretary, and Sunday school teacher. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was stationed on the Aleutian Islands as a Seabee. He also served as mayor of the City of East Ridge from 1961-1964. He was a member of the American Legion Post 95 as well as a 50 years member of the East Ridge lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with military honors. Pallbearers include Cameron Clemmer, Alexander Alford, Randy Edgeman, Buddy Knight, Rusty Knight, and Tony Melton. The Mayor and Commissioners of East Ridge as well as Hamilton County Clerk, Bill Knowles will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral home from 5-8 Friday evening.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ghandhi and Dr Bagamary as well as the nurses and staff on 3 west and 4 West of Parkridge Hospital.
