

William Elbert Cash, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, following an extended illness. Mr. Cash was born in Nelson, Georgia. He was a long time resident of Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Tech High School and Georgia Tech. Mr. Cash was also a long time resident of Gadsden, Alabama, and was a co-founding member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church serving there as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. For the past thirty years, Mr. Cash was a resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was an active member of Brainerd Baptist Church and served as a Deacon.
He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II.
He worked for Otis Elevator Company for twenty five years and for Bagby Elevator Company for ten years.
Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Mae Cash, wife, Faye Martin Cash, brother, Eugene Cash and niece, Jane Cash. Mr. Cash is survived by his wife Vivian Blevins Cash of Chattanooga, Tennessee, his daughters, Carole (Bill) Cox of Chesapeake, Virginia, Nancy (Randy) Swift of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a son, William E. Cash, Jr. (Kathy) of Birmingham, Alabama, a brother, Robert Cash (Pauline) of Eatonton, Georgia, and stepdaughters, Elaine Peterson (Ron) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Susan Barrow (Murray) of Birmingham, Alabama. He has ten grandchildren as well as great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cash was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved God and family. He lived out his Christian faith on a daily basis.
Services will be held on Friday at 3 P.M. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel with Dr. Jerry Songer officiating. Private interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hixson-Pryor class. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Joe Cox, David Cox, Matt Cash, Jay Vardamon, Chris Vardamon, Eric Peterson, Patrick Lunceford and Denton Lunceford.
