

William A. Grigsby, age 90, of Chattanooga died Thursday February 24, 2011 in Chattanooga. He was born December 22, 1920 in Chattanooga the son of the late Gus G. and Mary (Griffin) Grigsby. Mr. Grigsby was a Deacon emeritus and trustee of Ridgeview Baptist Church where he and his wife have been members for 56 years. He retired as Vice President of Volunteer State Life where he worked for 46 years, a 1938 graduate of Central High School, and attended the McKenzie School of Business. Later, he was the President and former executive director of the Chattanooga Convention and Business Bureau. As a scout master, he helped develop 6 eagle scouts. Mr. Grigsby was a fellow of the Life office Management Institute. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II on the Aircraft Carrier Shangri LA and in Korea on the Carrier F.D. Roosevelt. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years Margaret Grigsby, son Colonel (USAF retired) William (JoAnn) Grigsby, beloved Mack Parker, several other nieces and nephews, and special caregivers Lori, Rod, and Ty.
The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Saturday February 26 from 4:00 until 6:00.
Funeral services will be Sunday 3:00 from the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Fate L. Thomas and Rev. Pat Davis officiating. The Fisherman Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Interment will be Monday at 1:30 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
